The Caskey Family

Micah Comes Home

Early this morning, we checked into the Charleston Birth Place around 1:15 A.M. and Micah was born less than an hour and a half later, thanks to the luxury of a waterbirth.  This was a new experience for us, but it is something we would do over again in a heartbeat.  Micah came out and is very healthy and barely fussed.

Only about four hours after he was born, we were able to take our precious Micah home from the Charleston Birth Place to meet Elijah and Merry.  They obviously adore and love him already.  They both say his name very well, though Elijah today seems to prefer calling him “brother,” while Merry calls him “baby Micah.”  They both got some very sweet one-on-one time with him today, that was touching to watch.

Micah Luther Caskey named after the prophet Micah in the Bible and Martin Luther, church reformer who he almost shared a birthday with (by three days.)  One terrific verse from the book of Micah also motivated the chosing of this name: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

I love that you were able to get out of there so quickly. Hmmmm, maybe I’ll have to try that some time. The hospital wouldn’t let me out for 24 hours. 🙂

Jennifer, our plan is to arrange a visit today sometime, but I have had very little sleep so far and am not feeling so great (compared to how people say I look!!) We will give you a holler when things seem good for a visit.

Deb, just to clarify, he didn’t “pop out,” though the last part of labor was very quick. I labored all day at home – I started labor in the morning and had good contractions for the day – we still got to be out and about, nothing too overwhelming until evening time, but I would say a total of 7-8 hours of ACTIVE harder labor. . . just did most of it at home, and the last part did go fast. I was very blessed, that’s for sure, but it was very FAR FROM EASY!!!

So glad you had the experience of a water birth as they are the best in my book! Did you labor in water at home too? You do look great though I have no doubt you are exhausted! Hopefully you will be able to pry yourself away from endlessly gazing at your newest little one long enough to get some sleep!(I always had that problem)
Congratulations again!!!

Praise the Lord! What precious news!

I am really excited about the prayer study and I enjoyed your enthusiastic comment! It looks very good and perfect timing for what God is doing in my life.

Hugs!

Adina, we were so happy to hear how well the birth went for you. Congratulations to you and Jeremy on the newest little Caskey to join the clan! I especially loved the picture of you holding Micah, you have your mother’s eyes. God bless you all, and get some rest!!! Love, Louann and Dan
