Fun Sound Activities

A preschool curriculum is fun and exciting, and helps mommy stay organized, however, some of our best learning experiences have been very simple.  I thought I’d post a few of Elijah’s favorites here (as displayed by his frequent requests of them, lengthened attention span when engaged in them, or his own initiation of them.)

1.  Drawing “sounds” (letters) in bathtub paint in the tub

2. Reading books that begin with a particular sound

3. Making alphabet art (a large outline of a letter with something glued onto it that starts with that letter)

4. Drawing letters as requested on a small travel doodle-pad

5. Making letters out of playdough

6. Eating snacks that start with a particular sound (and counting them)

7. Looking for letters anywhere we are (reading books, on billboards, on signs in stores, etc.)

8. Using our Leapfrog magnetic phonics set on the refridgerator
