We just added two new blogs to our blogroll and one new link. . .so you can peek into the lives of two of our neighbors here at seminary.
Whitney and Mat are two sweet people who live across the street from us (Alexander Family). They love our children, Mat can preach like nothing else (the link is to his site where you can hear his sermons at Sunnyside Baptist Church – go listen and have your socks blessed off, as they say here in the south) Mat and Whitney are also some of the scariest and funnest people to play dice with!
Rachel (Lundy Family Blog) is the mom of one of our children’s closest playmates (literally, he lives two doors down from us!) and one of the sweetest women I have ever been blessed to call my friend. She lives with Dysautonomia, a condition that affects how she lives everyday life here on earth, because her autonomic nervous system does not regulate properly.
We thought we’d share these blogs with you so you can take an internet jaunt over to their places to visit them, just like we do here in real life in our neighborhood! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

After I finished my undergraduate degree, I was sick of reading. I’d read and read since I was a young girl, and I was simply tired of reading everything everyone else told me to read. So I took a break, until grad school of course, then it was even more intense reading: scientific research, research and MORE research! So, yep, you guessed it, another vacation from reading, with the exception of a few book skimmings and the Bible of course.
This year since we moved to Louisville, I have read a few REALLY good books, and I’ve gained my reading appetite back! I now have children who are old enough to have a good quiet time and a solid nap, so I am actually getting time to read during some of my prime awake time during the day!
I have read more books this year than I’ve read in the last 5 years combined. . .and I have some ambitious goals for the remaining part of the year. Here’s my list of MUST-reads for the remaining part of the year:
1. Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas (DONE! 9/10/2010)
2. The Faithful Parent by Martha Peace and Stuart Scott (Reading with Jeremy)
5. Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald Whitney (Reading for Seminary Wives’ Institute) DONE 11/16/2010
6. Crazy Love by Francis Chan (Listening on CD with Jeremy in the car) DONE 10/2010
7. Everyday Talk by John Younts (Reading with a friend and discussing weekly) DONE 11/19/2010
8. The Bible
What would you add to this list? What book is YOUR FAVORITE MUST-read that I’ve missed out on?? My list is void of any fun fiction book, or biography, so please comment with those suggestions too please!

School is in full swing for us! Yay! I’m going to let Elijah post this blog today, in a sense. . .below you will find a sampling of some recent journal entries. He tells me what to write, then he illustrates, although sometimes the picture gets drawn first. Enjoy
This is my favorite: our friends got engaged yesterday and it was Elijah’s journal illustration
this morning in his journal. . .this is all of us sitting around in our living room
toasting their engagement seminary style: non-alcoholic and CHEAP!
Since I can’t draw, here’s a photo of the engaged couple is seated on the loveseat,
and our friends the Lawsons are on the right, married one year and barely pregnant with their first child,
and of course, us the old people, married 12 years, Elijah taking the photo, Micah is on the right observing!
