Early this morning, we checked into the Charleston Birth Place around 1:15 A.M. and Micah was born less than an hour and a half later, thanks to the luxury of a waterbirth. This was a new experience for us, but it is something we would do over again in a heartbeat. Micah came out and is very healthy and barely fussed.
Only about four hours after he was born, we were able to take our precious Micah home from the Charleston Birth Place to meet Elijah and Merry. They obviously adore and love him already. They both say his name very well, though Elijah today seems to prefer calling him “brother,” while Merry calls him “baby Micah.” They both got some very sweet one-on-one time with him today, that was touching to watch.

Micah Luther Caskey named after the prophet Micah in the Bible and Martin Luther, church reformer who he almost shared a birthday with (by three days.) One terrific verse from the book of Micah also motivated the chosing of this name: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

Micah Luther Caskey was born to Jeremy and Adina Caskey on November 7, 2008 at 2:38 a.m. He weighs 7 lbs. 15 oz., 21 in. long, and is healthy and has hardly fussed. We can’t wait to head home in the morning to introduce him to his brother and sister. Uncle David is at home with the two older kids and Auntie Katelyn was here with us for the birth. We arrived at the Charleston Birth Place at 1:05 a.m. and had the baby less than an hour and a half later. We’ll post more photos later today.
